2019 sitters...

Fashion in the Street has had a number of themes running through its series over the years.
Earliest amongst them was sitting subjects, playing on the distinction and difference that applies to the feel and aesthetic of the visual when the subject interacts more closely with their environment.
In fact, the first major exhibition for Fashion in the Street featured a sitters series.
This year, whilst investigating some new themes, we've also kept the original ideas going too.
So here are some of the sitters of 2019, after a quick look at some of the best from previous years...

Michelle - now, and a retrospective...

Michelle has been helping Fashion in the Street since its first year, and still has what it takes when working in front of the camera!
Just the other day we were out despite the smokey weather, shooting again.
So, I thought it appropriate to feature some of those images alongside a brief retrospective of favourites...

Passers-by of Fashion in the Street

Sometimes its the passers-by who add the real interest to the Fashion in the Street experience.
Here are a few from the other afternoon in Canberra's central, "Civic" district.

Even former models of Fashion in the Street can be passers-by! Thanks to Rosalind for her serendipitous appearance at the bus stop as I wandered around town. And thanks too, of course, to the other passers-by for their friendly cooperation in front of my camera.

More to come as we continue into the 2020 fashion year...

Cinematic Serendipity?

Fashion in the Street has been exploring the cinematic format for some time now. Looking back at the format its sometimes nice to let chance decide on the image choice and the grouping that might work with other images.
These form a small but important part of the major project, and indicate a significant directional shift in the style and approach taken in producing the work.
Thanks as ever to the lovely models for their wonderful help.

Pauline, Olivia & Sharon, in Melbourne & Canberra

Cristina & Helene, in Sydney and Melbourne

Krista, Clarissa, & Cecile in Canberra, Melbourne & Sydney

I hope you enjoy these groupings.
More retrospective musings to follow...
