Fashion in the Street was at Australian Fashion Week again this year.  The Carriageworks location in Sydney is always a great event, with lots of wonderful arrivals as well as the programmed shows.

Here's the first look at what I saw...

Thanks to all those who stopped to be photographed.

A year past! – Ready for this years Melbourne Fashion Festival

It's been a year since the last post! Slack I know.

An OS trip with no fashion photography seemed to get in the way!

Let's review some fashion highlights from the past year as a prelude to the excitement of this years MFF.

Australian Fashion Week – First impressions

Fashion in the Street visited Sydney last week for the Australian Fashion Week.

As is often the case, I found the arrivals as interesting as the runways.

Despite the rain, guests were dressed to impress as expected.

Thanks to those who stopped to have their pictures taken.

More to follow soon...

2019 sitters...

Fashion in the Street has had a number of themes running through its series over the years.
Earliest amongst them was sitting subjects, playing on the distinction and difference that applies to the feel and aesthetic of the visual when the subject interacts more closely with their environment.
In fact, the first major exhibition for Fashion in the Street featured a sitters series.
This year, whilst investigating some new themes, we've also kept the original ideas going too.
So here are some of the sitters of 2019, after a quick look at some of the best from previous years...

Pre - 2019

Sam

Clarisse

Michelle

Helene

Olivia

Pauline

Suzana

Cecile

Thanks, as ever, to the wonderful models for their lovely help.
And, looking forward to more in the new year...

Cinematic Serendipity?

Fashion in the Street has been exploring the cinematic format for some time now. Looking back at the format its sometimes nice to let chance decide on the image choice and the grouping that might work with other images.
These form a small but important part of the major project, and indicate a significant directional shift in the style and approach taken in producing the work.
Thanks as ever to the lovely models for their wonderful help.

Pauline, Olivia & Sharon, in Melbourne & Canberra

Cristina & Helene, in Sydney and Melbourne

Krista, Clarissa, & Cecile in Canberra, Melbourne & Sydney

I hope you enjoy these groupings.
More retrospective musings to follow...

Broader sets from each shoot...

Often we only get to see one or two images from a Fashion in the Street shoot on the blog. To get a better feeling for the shoot process its worth looking at a broader set of images.

I usually finish a set of 15 -25 images from each shoot, and select several as the best representations of the process.

These are a few from recent sessions in Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra.

More reviews and retrospectives to come over the holiday break, until we start shooting again in the new year...
